No regrets
I found a rare moment
of pure happiness
sitting with you
hidden from the world
watching a hummingbird
flit across the salvia
that lined the garden
behind the church.
Just as I leaned in
and brushed your hand
she darted away
forbidden, too,
afraid of being seen
so clearly.
Our time was brief and fragile
the memory not to be lessened
by regret.
